These core values are our organization basis in decision making, planning, organizing and implementing our activities, hence they must be lived and honored.

WHAT WE ARE COMMITTED TO DO

1. Historically or traditionally, it is understood that political and military issues are concepts of conflict, but we realize that economic and social threats including poverty and environmental degradation are significant contributing factors for conflict. So we are committed to building blocks for peace and security for all river lake communities and social security, anchored in sustainable development. This would allow us to address all the big issues – poverty, climate and environmental stability.

2.   We are committed to improve the livelihood of the wetland community, make a sustainable living that can make them cope with stress, shocks and enhance their capabilities and assets both now and in future, while not undermining the natural resources base.

3. Improving water accessibility to communities living around rivers, lakes where clean water is a need also assist in the rehabilitation of dyeing natural water sources. This may include the construction of underground tanks and dams, to capture rain water and make it available to them to be used during dry seasons.

4  Assisting small scale farmers to improve food security situation in livestock and crop farming through training provision of certified seeds, and upgrading of indigenous livestock breeds.

5 Buying produce from hard working farmers during harvest time at a motivating price, treat and store it locally in the best way possible then make in available for them at an affordable price and in different forms during planting season.

6 Involving ourselves in endeavors to minimize vulnerability to natural hazards and climate change through the management of key natural resources and the introduction of appropriate technologies.

7 We put great emphasis to the needs of the river-lake communities and aspects of their lives and means of living at the centre of development and our works, while maintaining the sustainability of natural resources for present and future generations.

8 We seek to identify quick fielding revenue measures and priority expenditures aimed at supporting the economic recovery of the water-side poor.

9 Advocate for corporate efforts to plan and manage shared natural resources among communities in an effort to promote communication and interaction between adversaries or potential adversaries, thereby transforming insecurities and establishing mutually recognized rights and expectations

16 To create and maintain forested buffer zones which will separate watering points from farms, and cattle grazing corridors from reserved areas to manage conflict

. 17 Introduce and maintain a food chain around the ecosystem that will not include human beings and or their produce and livestock.

18 Control water flow in and out of the lakes lying along the meanders of River Tana.

19 Control water pollution, encroachment, poaching , fishing, ,soil erosion and livestock grazing

20 Conserve critical feeding grounds for fish, wildlife and water birds.

21 Identified problems faced by the eco-system and find solution through community, donor and stakeholder participation.
